Choosing the right reptile

Before you choose a reptile, decide which type of pet would work best for you, your home and your family. Reptiles generally fall into three categories:

• Handleable – Despite our phobias, most snakes fall into this category.
• Semi-handleable – Although most turtles are not dangerous, they do not like to be handled.
• Visual – A tokay gecko is a visual pet. It’s a beautiful animal, but it bites.
